We are delighted to announce that Danny Smith has joined ProSpare as General Manager of the Bulk Materials Handling Department. He heads the team which improves belt conveyor performance for companies throughout the UK.
Danny joins the business following John Tuckley’s departure to undertake a new challenge abroad. We thank John for the dedicated service he provided during 8 years at ProSpare & ConSpare and wish him well for the new adventure overseas.
Danny has worked in the field of mechanical engineering since 2006. Prior to joining ProSpare, Danny spent 11 highly successful years with a global manufacturer of belt conveyor equipment and components. Starting out as a field service engineer, he then progressed to field service manager for 5 years, and lastly became territory manager at the beginning of 2021.He also acted as Health & Safety Officer for the business.
During his time with the business, Danny supported and trained installation partners and end-users alike to get the most from their conveyor systems. He was also involved in product development activities for the company, such as prototype projects and field trials. Danny has worked with customers across the globe in a wide range of industries, ranging from quarrying and mineral extraction, mining, recycling, power production, ports and terminals, and steel production. A particular highlight was working on projects in the gold mines of West Africa.
This wealth of experience in improving conveyors puts Danny in the perfect position to lead our Bulk team. Formed in 2016, ProSpare’s Bulk Materials Handling Department is now a 10 strong team specialising in improving belt conveyor performance and safety through high performance cleaning, tracking and sealing technology. A network of 5 service engineers provide the highest levels of expertise when installing and servicing STARCLEAN® belt cleaners, Centrax belt trackers, SealTek & Spill-Ex skirting systems, and FRIFLO impact beds.
On joining the business, Danny said:

Danny’s first few months with the business will see him attend The UK Concrete Show 2025 with sister business ConSpare Ltd, and also join the manufacturers of STARCLEAN®, Schulte Strathaus GmbH & Co. ProSpare, and its Bulk Materials team, have been named winner for an outstanding health and safety improvement at the Mineral Products Association (MPA) Health and Safety Awards 2024 - with STARCLEAN® belt cleaners picking up the award for the success at an Express Asphalt plant.
